Sitting on a quiet bay just off the main lake was a favourite pastime of mine as a young boy. Later on, my own son who was the real fisherman in the family, could be found carrying on the tradition of his grandfather. Many times he would stroll back to the cottage, empty-handed, his bait pail empty…but he was happy. On this particular day, the sudden splash of a darting fish caused quite a commotion and everyone got into the act. I can't recall if he brought this one home or not, but knowing he grew up sharing my love for nature has given a lasting significance to the one spot we both cherish.
